Hi Llody, If you have rag and are able to rock hop the rock marks either side of the harbour will fish for wrasse, pollack etc. Use a float rig preferably last two hours of the ebb and first couple of the flood. It does fish all the way up but access can be difficult. It definitley fishes better whe...

Hi Loydy, How did you get on off the boat? I was going to join you for a sesh off the shore but got offered a last minute place on a boat at Arbroath and have been frantically collecting bait, tying rigs etc. Might be going out on the boat from Eyemouth next week, if i still have aany energy left to...

It means that I use three hooks, ie a running ledger with a two hook flapper above. that way your targeting bottom and mid water species. Try it and let me know how you get on. Cheers keith :D :D I agree with Keith a two up one down covers just about everything. If the tide is running hard You can ...

Hi Chris, I did consider getting the tld serviced but with the amount of new parts needed plus the postage to the service centre It is going to be cheaper to buy a reasonably priced new one. In saying that I am not going to part with it as it has reeled in a lot of fish for me and I wouldn't bin it....

Home nations

Just heard that Scotland won the Home Nations boat championship fished out of Scrabster :) .
Scotland won both days with England 2nd, Wales 3rd and Ireland 4th. Scrabster can be a difficult venue that requires more skill than luck, so well done lads.

Thanks Keith, never thought about Okuma reels I've just tended to stick to Shimano for the boat and Daiwa and Abu from the shore. I will check out my local tackle shop in Gala and if Mick doesn't have any I will do some surfing and see if I can find them. Unfortunately the local skippers only fish o...

Boat Fishing Reel ?

Got my birthday coming up soon and I am angling for a new reel as my trusty tld15 is more than showing its age. Since the better half is (hopefully) paying for it and she has been known to lurk around these pages, I need advice on 'reasonable' priced reels to replace my shimano. Did mention the shim...

coldingham

Hi LLoydy, Access to the mark on the right of Coldingham beach is not too bad but it is a bit of a hike down the hill and across the beach before you clamber over the rocks. I would be more concerned about the big seas you get washing over the rocks particularly after the easterlies we have had this...

Hi Neil, There are numerous marks around the Stranraer area and it would take a small book to give details of them all. Your best bet would be to drop into the Sports Shop in Stranraer and talk to Eric Mclean. Eric has a well stocked shop and will give you directions and advice on wheres fishing and...

Well done Andy. Its good to see that the cod are making a comeback in the upper clyde and if more anglers followed your example of putting them back they might keep increasing their numbers. I used to catch numbers like that in th 60's and 70's from Fairlie all the way up to Gourock. Jeez, just real...
