Plugs can be difficult to cast long distance especially light poppers and shallow divers. Also are the plugs lighter than your rods casting weight range. Alot of people use rods rated to cast 1-2 oz or 1-3oz for sea fishing which is fine for big Toby,s , Dexter,s and Shads but are absolutely useless...

I always fish the Falls of Lora about 50 -100yards into the Loch from the grey bridge, at the north shore , Connel. Free lined limpets into the kelp or shallow diving plugs, will get loads of pink codling and pollack with a few macky if a shoal is coming through. Seems to fish best on a rising tide ...

Forgot to say the rods even better deal than most because it comes with a decent hard travel tube to protect it. Also if you want a good light surf rod the bass version is damn good too. Hey Kieth, You,ll beat me at Holyhead this year if I can get there. :D My left shoulder is that torn up I,m restr...

The 13ft powerstix pro is a good rod, but get the surfmaster 750 not the 850. My rod and reel has dragged a trippleshot of pollack out of kelp but I wouldn,t recomend it as a rough ground rod. Better for mixed or clean beaches. Use mine with multi,s now and its even better.

I only know of 2 people with Quantums and both broke on their 2nd trip out. Both lads now have Abu,s as they couldn,t get the parts for the Quantums to fix them. Typical Ebay specials.
Have a look at the offers spottydogtackle has on Abu,s which at least you can get parts for.

Never tighten the spool tension Knobs right up on any of the Abu,s as you will Knacker them in. They are really there to set spool float only. The instruction book settings are for light lures, up to about 1 oz, which are more prone to causing birdsnests as they don,t drag the line out fast enough c...

See Keith, I told you it was a lack of fishing that was making you grumpy. Glad to see you caught. I,m laid up at moment with a wrecked shoulder so can,t go fishing. I,m hoping it,ll be OK for Holyhead.

We had 13 posts on this thread before forum screwed up. X( X(
The OP had replied twice and supplied all the info asked for . I think he said he was based at Eastney.
I think everything was sorted before the change over.
