Had a holiday based in Milford (one of the flats in the White House) a couple of years ago but spent most of my time fishing the bank rather than Milford itself - assume you were fishing under the cliffs? It looked really good and can't remenber why I didn't give it a proper go. I'd love to catch ei...

Probably out Saturday night but might aim further along the Sussex coast - possibly White Horses at Pevensey for bass and sole. Pretty sheltered fishing there even in a strong SW wind, but knowing my luck there'll be a comp and I'll have to try elsewhere!

Always used to be loads under the pier - mind, I've not tried for probably 30 years!! My brother has been catching the smoothies on frozen hermit crab - he gets his from Tropicana in Littlehampton. They're big baits and good value too!

I never mind blanking when the nippers are catching! It's great to see their happy faces as they pull the fish in - priceless. Hope you have some luck tonight!

Nice one Jimmy - hounds are brilliant fun, aren't they? Hoping to add to my tally either tonight or tomorrow night. Never fished Calshot (or many marks that side of Soton - is it worth a visit?

Good selection of fish there! Not sure that many undulates (or other rays for that matter) come up from Hayling too often, though Eccles and Clarissa will know more than me. Nice smoothie too! Might have to give Hayling a go before too long - last time I fished Eastoke (Groyne 21), all I got was a m...

Eccles.

That's a very kind offer and one that I might just take you up on at some stage. Much appreciated! The tackle shops round me (near Croydon) don't do much sea bait and certainly not frozen peelers! As you say, the evening tides coming up do look tempting......

Cheers

Fair point! Trouble is, I work in the centre of London a lot of the time so can't get away in time to pick up bait at the coast - and I'm currently out of peelers in the freezer. Poor planning....... :( Unfortunately, I don't live in Pompey any more (haven't for 20 years) but retain my allegiances -...

Brief Saturday Session

Managed to get down to the W Sussex coast again on Saturday morning to fish the tide up for a few hours. Bought some frozen peeler at Tropicana in Littlehampton and had with me some frozen garfish sections for a decent bass. My brother also had some frozen hermits. There was a fair bit of breeze and...

Greg You've got to take the opportunities when they present themselves - not sure I could have stuck to my guns (biteless to that point on freelined sandeel) when the sea in front of me was alive with suicidal mackie! Nice to hear that the shoals and fish are big! The bass will come - have you tried...

Nice one Danny - that's a very varied haul! Few species there that I don't often see - in particular scad which we used to get from S Parade Pier when I was a nipper but haven't seen since. Never fished Chesil but often been tempted - maybe this Autumn.....
