Hope you have more luck than me with plugs/lures etc, I decided to to give them a try 6 weeks ago. As to date not even a nibble, I might as well pop to the local Adsa store and fish in there car park. Pretty sure my wife has stopped believing I go fishing, I have to deliberately get muddy shoes and ...

Thanks for your replies :)
The boat will be doing 6 knots for 45 mins due to speed restrictions until it gets to dock head in Southampton water.
I like Keith's idea of using a few mackerel feathers.
Or I could use a massive hook and foul hook everything ;)

Any idea what plugs/lures can be used at 10 knots?

This Sunday I'm off on a fishing trip just past the Needles, this fishing boat isn't very fast, about 10 knots. It takes at least 2.5hrs to get to the selected fishing grounds and I was thinking of dropping a plug/lure off the back of the boat while it's on it's way and making the most of every avai...

The mackerel are making there way up the river Itchen

Decided to take my boat out today with one of my mates. Started off from Northam Bridge at walking pace pulling a mepps spinner behind me, not a nibble !! My mate decided to use feathers, I told him the mackerel won't be this far up the river, seemed I was wrong :-O He pulled out a large mackerel, I...
