The fisheries vessles do try to get out as much as possible, but they do have to work to a budget, so maybe that is why they have been in the harbour for a while ( it could also be for refit ). Also, I don't know if any has the Nov. issue of TSF yet, but there is an article in there that proves the ...

For me it depends where I go, but usually a bomber rig for flat beaches,
a pulley rig for rough ground, and a 3 hook flapper for the shingle banks.
I also vary the snood length to suit the tide strength.

I,ve used greased weasel quite a few times, I can't fault it for performance.
But the Varivas in clear is fantastic stuff (not tried coloured).

I've been using it for almost 20 years without a problem. But like any line it depends on how old it is and how it's been stored (out of sunlight ).

And the difference between a codling and a cod is -
A codling is what you catch on the beach, and a COD is what you describe to your mates down the pub. >:)

I've just bought 2 Zziplex M4 EVOs, slightly more power than the profile and still got great bite indication. I also use the high swing pendulum and this rod feels like its casting itself with a 5oz lead. (only 22.5mm butt)
I'd suggest you try one if you can, you wont be disappointed !!!
