i find handling frozen squid easier than defrosted,once on the hook and in the sea it soon thaws. as for eating it,no worries,it is the same stuff as you would get in a restaurant,except they have cleaned theirs up,skinned gutted etc. many a time ive cooked some squid on my tilley,yum yum all the be...

i must say whole squid seems to fishing well lately,all of my codling(2.5-3lb) so far this season have come on squid.not the big calamari,but the 4-5inch long ones.

damn good fish there though fella,bet ya heart is still pounding :D

advice on dungee

myself and a few others are planning a trip to dungeness,this week 2nd-3rd dec '10,could someone give us some advice,i hear a few clonkers are being pulled out,how best to avoid the crowds,baits rigs etc,snag pits to steer clear of.

any and all advice will be gratefully received

bit open to the elements on awful island,atleast your honest about the catch report,lots of stories abound with clonking cod being caught (some confirmed) others utter rubbish to play upto personal egos

in my area i tend to use rag from may (ish) onwards until mid sept,then onto lug,but squid nearly always pays off all year round,sept is good for mussels . but as rabbi says depends on time of year,species etc.
