is that the same fladen charter beach,3 piece that is rated for 4-10oz? if so i tried my mates one for a pier fish,and used a 5oz lump with a overhead thump ,rod was almost bent double before i went to cast,thought i was going to snap the thing.how it could be rated for 10oz i dont know.however i do...

from what i hear,go with what feels right for your casting style.depends on what conditions you intend to fish.reading through this thread,im feeling maybe a century kompresser could suit you,although slightly unforgiving if you fluff a cast.

lot of crab activity around the pier mowjo,remember there isnt much need to launch a bait out from there so that should reduce bait flying off,i find most fish there within 20yrds. but as how to best bait up circles,i havent a clue as i havent used them,but i will ask around for you all the best Andy

just dont venture into leiston!!! depends on conditions as for species,if calm and night flood try for soles(still a bit early though),bit choppy close in bass.

personally avoid aldeburgh,unless you go north of the town,tinkers end ;). dunwich under cliffs or minsmere both north of sizewell

its probably a few bad apples that has caused the implementation of this proposed ban,more likely due to litter and unsafe practices. we have a beach dog ban here from may to sept. which is clearly signed but ignored. i would have no problem with an angling ban on my local tourist beach,up until 6pm...

he should go cheap to start with,as he/she may not get into it,upgrading can come later,basic gear: f/s rod,f/s reel,tripod,brolly,clothing,and plenty of terminal tackle,plenty of patience (not sure if that can be bought secondhand lol) and dont forget a headlamp

very good for floundering,they will drop into a gulley nicely.also on muddy ground when targetting flounders,if you dont get a bite for a few minutes or so try reeling in a little bit as they will disturb the seabed and flounders can be curious fellows.they work the same as the flat plain leads but ...
