never really tried any of the gear so cant really advise, but if you are like me a little bit and dont go boat fishing an awful lot then think like me...if it looks like it will catch a fish and not break then it will probably be ok....unless you catch something huge.

Would love to be at his dinner table......but i agree somewhat that it may be a bit excessive..but also if it was cod or any other than a bass would anyone be moaning about it?

God knows what will happen when the conservation zones come into force, just who will it affect. Although I have notice that there is nothing planned for Scotland. Dont know too much about conservation zones but going by what i have read elsewhere i am sure that there are some coming to us as well

Dont know much about it mick....i would just use a normal spinning rod for pike fishing and if you have a light bass rod say 1-3oz for any carp fishing.
As i say i dont know much about it but by the look of all the gear they seem to carry it looks damn expensive.

i tend to disregard the head and as mentioned before i use a couple of tentacles to give it a bit of flutter in the water. Try looking at this http://www.truveo.com/search?query=bait presentation squid&flv=1#bait%20presentation%20squid%20 and this http://www.wonderhowto.com/how-to-rig-small-squid-ba...

I forgot to add that as you mentioned you like to save time by having your bait already frozen to the hook so you can save time when re-baiting.
This may save time but you are limited as to what size of baits you can then use (have you seen the size of some baits used for cod?).

I am no expert mate but what i do (and i think maybe most others) is remove the main body from the squid....pull out the clear plastic looking backbone. I then cut this in half length ways (keep whole if using a size 5/0 or bigger) and once you have the 2 halfs take one and starting at the top end i...

When using the bait elastic i would suggest binding the squid from top to bottom to create a sausage type shape on the hook. The way you are doing it at top and bottom of bait it may still slip down the hook as in your pic and just be a blob of bait. Slide the squid over the eye of the hook and when...
