As long as the fish are not wasted i do not see a problem with weigh in matches. Finding a good home for half a dozen fresh dabs if you do not want them for your own tea should not be a problem, get them ready for the frying pan then give them to a pensioner. You have a good day match fishing Somebo...

If you are fishing rocky marks the bimini twist can be too good a knot. It is better to lose just the shock leader and end tackle than lose 100 yds of line because the knot was too strong.

Might be useful for connecting heavy mono or wire but apart from that it looks like something else to get tangled around.

I seem to remember that woolies sea reels would suffer a rupture with the first lump of weed . The terminal tackle was ok though. As a youngster i remember buying 100yds bobbins of winfield nylon monofil sewing thread about 4lb breaking strain price around 25p. :) Just right for battling the local m...

To add to the above, stay outside in the fresh air do not go in the cabin. Also if you do feel queasy keep your head up and watch the horizon it helps if your brain has stable line to relate the boats motion against. I was lucky that on the rare occasions that i did feel iffy i could have a snooze *...

Broadly speaking white and natural colours are better in shallow clean water during daylight and red , black and orange favorite in deep or dark water.
As the light fades in shallow water colour should be less of an issue.

I think most anglers consider rays a difficult fish to prepare for the table so they put them back.
There is just as much waste when you fillet a cod with their gurt big heads but it is a simple job compared to skate.
I like a nice piece of skate fried in butter but do C&R egg laden females . :)

I wiki`d the thread size question last week and the answer was 3/8" standard thread.
You can buy tripod parts as they normally drop off and get lost on the beach.

If there are plenty of mackerel about any type of feather will work but on the days when they are hard to catch the small shrimp pattern with the luminous bead work well . Next choice would be the type with the double strip of holographic tape. I have not used real feathers for mackerel for the past...

Frozen white fish is not really very good on the barbi , best used in a fish pie or some spicy fish cakes.
Fresh mackerel , sardine ,bass or bream are the ones to have on the bbq.
