Allhallows 27/02/08.

Fished the rising tide on a sandy bay by the point .Used 2 x rods with simple 2 hook flapper rigs . 1 rod on straight lug , the other on lug/rag cocktail both using size 1 hooks . Whats the Pilot , a Pub ? I fished Allhallows a long time ago but i wasn't the driver so i having a bit of a nose about when i get there . Directions would be extremly helpful Joe .

Fished it years ago in winter and caught a few smelt but i see no reason why the Thornies won't appear there . I thing though it is vary shallow so long casting might help . also as it is a nudy beach i would not pick sunny days to fish !!!!!!!!!!

Thinking of trying Allhallows tomorrow after reading Joe's report but can't find my tide tables . Can anyone let me know the time of the High Tide .I looked at the river today and i looked about 4 ish .

Don't use the eel whole i think you use them in sections so they bleed a bit . Some of the boys who boat fish the Thames for Tope will probably be able to help you . Don't forget if it works from a boat if you get into deep enough water it will work from the shore ....

Try catching eels and freeze them down cos i've heard they are good Tope bait .

As Rabbi2 said they work well when you have the light . Flatfish are notoriously nosey so anything out of the ordinary attracts them . i know i,m new to the forum but for flounder i generally use a 2 or 3 hook flapper with a lug top with half a king rag cocktail or a lug and maddie cocktail with a size 1 hook , any smaller and they will nearly always swallow which is hard work plus ideal if eels and a good size bass is lurking arou...

Thanks for your reply Simon , awaiting your update , hope the wind and the weather are with you . Fished it last year in an easterly and only managed a 6 oz bass .
