New suit

Hi guys and thanks for the many replies. I did ask Santa for a floatation suit but the miserable bugger said something about not knowing my size so I went and purchased one myself. I went for the Blue sky one mentioned in my earlier post. I got it on Friday but the obvious problem was that I could n...

Sand eels

Hi guys Thanks for the information about baiting up with sand eels. I have tried numerous times with frozen sand eels and they have not been very productive but even today, there were guys fishing next to me using crab and they were not producing anything either so I don't feel so bad. I did make a ...

Hi petersclan, I bought my son his first rod when he was seven and he was keen to go all the time but I wasn't so keen in the colder months. I used to fish years ago and never thought I would get back into it but I am now and enjoying it big time. My son is now eleven has his own 9ft spinning rod an...

thebigbassman, I don't think it is a lesser weever as I have looked on the internet at pictures of this and it does not look anything like this. The two spines look as though they are behind the gills and not on the dorsal fin hence me agreeing with concrete. I am really annoyed now that I didn't ta...

Fish identity

Hi DuncBooth5, concrete Thanks for your suggestions but after looking through the website suggested by DuncBooth5 I think it might well be what you have suggested concrete. Having looked through most of the species on there it does look very like this one: http://www.glaucus.org.uk/bullhead.htm It l...

Fish identity

Hi folks and here goes for another question. I used to fish in the River Clyde as a teenager, every summer for years but fell away for more years but now back. We used to be plagued by a small brown coloured fish that has two spines on its back. It has a large mouth and can very in colour as far a I...

Suggestions for wheelchair user near St Austell in summer 08

Hi folks I am wheelchair dependent but have been fishing for short while now. I am going to St Austell on holiday in the summer of next year (yes I do know I am a bit early) but I wondered if anyone knew of any places I could fish with my 11 year old son that would be safe for both of us. Although I...

Thank you

Hi VifferRider Thanks very much for taking the time to do this, it is really appreciated. I was on the right track but just could not get black tubing on the bottom, but I will do as you have mentioned. This is why this is a great forum, because people take the time to do things like this especially...

Impact bait shields and how to attache them

Hi folks, yes I can't help myself. I am going to build some Pennel rigs with impact shields on them but when I bought a packet of four there is an additional piece of rubber in the packet. I did try to put it over the bottom of the shield but it seems the internal diameter is too small. Is this wher...

Pennel rig help

Hi Selbs

Thanks for the tip. I have looked at this diagram nuerous times and this is exactly what I had planned to make.
I had a look on the RS website and found neoprene expandable rubber sleeves that go from 1.25 to 2mm so this is something I need to look into.
Merry Christmas

Pennel rig help

Hi folks Just another daft question about the pennel rig. I understand that it is just two hooks on the same snood but how do you secure the second hook. I have looked at many pictures and looked through the forum and people have suggested using striiped out twin and earth cabling and this works. I ...

Floatation suit

Hi Iceman and thanks for the comments. I am fairly mobile when it comes to transfers so I should be alright. I am used to getting dressed in the chair so I would expect to get the bottoms on relatively easily. I have a spinal cord injury at T10 so I am reasonably mobile. I spoke to one of the OT's i...

One up one down rig

Hi folks and thanks for the replies. Eccles, I have the bait clips that are able to move up and down so I can make the line tighter. As mention I didn't want to do this as I thought the bait would not release but you have pointed out that this is not the case. I might have a go at what you have sugg...

One up one down rig

Hi folks, it seems that I have a never ending list of questions but I though I may as well ask if I don't know. I have made a few 'one up one down rigs' relatively easily but the question I have is that how tight do the line need to be on the bait clips? I tried using one yesterday but I left the li...

How to put sand eels on

Hi folks, I have been using rag worm today with some success. Caught a couple of small Pollock but I also bought frozen sand eels (small ones) I am not sure how to put them on as bait so I would appreciate any hints or tips for using eels. I did cut it into usable sizes, put the hook straight throug...
