Hi Sean, I'm sure people ain't being rude but your question only leaves two rods (of dozens) to comment on, and I guess not many folk have tried them, me included. I'd say carp rods I've used in sea fishing tend to curve all along their length in a parabola, whereas bass rods have more tip movement ...

Bait safe

Sounds like the one used more often from boats, like a tiny brass bed-warming pan with perforations ('let t'flavour flood out'). Load it with bait, clip the lid shut, lower it to the bottom and the projecting rod releases the contents. Still available, check the classifieds in your favourite angling...
