The good thing about Anglesey is that you can fish no matter how bad the weather. Here are some good marks on Anglesey and Holy Island (Holyhead): Ty Croes and Cable Bay; (Rays) Llandwyn Island; (Rays, Smoothies) Menai Straits (Mixed bag) Gallows Point (Mixed Bag - Deep channel in Menai Straits) Pen...

No Moon - Good for Fishing?
I notice on the moon phase on this site that there is no moon tonight, who would agree that this is a good time for fishing. My reasons for this would be that the fish would feel safer from predators.

Bang-on, when I used to drive i sometimes used to sit in the car and watch my rod. Since getting banned 20years ago my fishing has picked up although it costs me in taxi's. Longest ever walk is 8 mile round trip from the car park, a place called Abermenai Point, at the entrance to the Menai Straits....

Mr Me42 - Did'nt know there were three classes in Britain. To me there are two kinds of person and money don't come into it and is basically as follows: Alright people who would give you the time of day and not so kind people who won't give you the time or day. The later tend to talk with a posh acc...

Tope and Smoothhound catches are improving every year up here in Holyhead. My mate landed a 67lb Tope in August, 2008 off the rocks at Raven's Point. This deep water mark has produced a few 50lb Tope over the last 5 year. A new Welsh Record Starry Smoothhound weighing 25lb 6oz was caught in Holyhead...

Mudlark that sounds much better. To be honest if I was to look at Article 47 I probably would not make head nor tail of it. Thankfully you have taken the time to digest the contents and picked out the bones and have relayed it in a way that sounds acceptable to me anyway. I though that refusing the ...

Fubar - I take it enforcement officers would be the Police or is it likely to be a traffic warden doing a bit of over time. The point that your missing is that the majority in this case is a big majority and in the case of your beach with 150 heads then I take it that they would need a lot of enforc...

It's easy to legislate but impossible to enforce, thats what Eurocrats don't realise. I can see fishing balaclava's making a come back together with extended cosh's for show, beach riots, breakwater blockades, burnt out cars and all that stuff. As if enforcers will go looking in dark desolated place...

I know an ex-skipper who refused to throw fish back and as a result was constantly fined. In the end he decided to contest the quota system and it ended up being heard in the High Court in London. During the case the skipper/owner had his 5 minutes in the spotlight and told the judge straight that t...
