She is born and bred in Holyhead. I guarantee she's been fishing. Ask her for a laugh if she has ever dug bait down Bolsach.

Peeler Crab is a good bait in April for Bass. Spongies not crinklies are the killers. Menai Straits in between the bridges is a good place for peelers and Bass.

I was told that find Black Lug on north facing beaches. This does appear to be the case in North Wales anyway (ie. Colwyn Bay, Rhyl and Llandonna).

If you're just getting into fishing then i'd buy light tackle and go for the Bass around Penrhos Bay, Gorad and Valley Cob in the Spring. Plenty of Peelers to be had here if you look for them, and the Bass know it. Breakwater is ok for mixed bag fishing Whit, Pout, Dogs and you won't need to cast fa...

Hopefully, if the weather's nice over the next couple of weeks the crabs might peel early.

Fish the headland on the right hand side of Cable Bay. The headland on the left is what is known as Ty Croes ledges. Good spot for Ray's is just below the Cromlech (Ancient Burial Chamber) on the left. Take the coastal path.

Holyhead is only a small island but has about 8 camp sites, can't go wrong. If I were to choose i'd go for the one by Porthdafarch Beach. It's right by the good fishing spots.

I'm confused! I though it was a shore caught record. Mr B. Jones must also be the beachcasting record holder to cast across the Severn Estuary. So you're telling me he caught this fish in England, waited until he got to Wales then weighed it in and dared to lie about where he caught it. That's a loa...

Newborough is a long beach between Llandwyn Island and Aber Menai Point at the mouth of the Menai Straits. I personally would fish Llandwyn Island, go there in the day time to get your bearings, plenty of fish around here, including Bass, Ray, Smoothies and Tope. Has to be one of the best marks on t...

Mossy, don't mean to sound like an old woman but a mirror is a sailing dinghy. There are exceptionally strong tides around Cemaes, running at 7 knots by Camel Head just around the corner. Some guy drowned last year in a small boat, found his body up by Blackpool two weeks later. There are plenty of ...

You are lucky. Good habit is to look seaward when close to the waters edge when reeling in. Any fast ferry down your end? I know the Stena HSS creates a power swell. When it first arrived in service it once washed up a packed beach taking everyone by surprise. Freak waves happen mate, so beware.
