It sounds like you're going out on a boat- if thats right i'd check with the skipper what you're targetting and what bait /rigs are best

Only fished hythe during winter time but good venue for whiting, dabs and codling- use three hook rigs with short snoods for whiting bashing- best bait seemed to be black lug or black lug tipped with mackerel for whiting (straight blacklug or fresh yellowtails for codling). Apparently the hot spot i...

the first way you describe of presenting the peeler is generally the correct way- sticking them on whole and unpeeled is a waste of a peeler- the idea with peeler is to cut the crab in two to release the juices and get as much scent as possible. In general I cant see you're doing much wrong- try sca...

Inzamam

What kind of rigs/hook size were you using- how were you preparing your peeler crab and baiting up with it?

if your fridge was extra cold it could just be that they're asleep and or docile- they'll stink if they've died but if youre not sure you could separate them from the others if you're worried - TBH I've had crabs I thought were dead but they start moving once I picked them up and they woke up. try n...

I would separate them into three or four ice cream size tubs cover them in the wet seaweed or you can use kitchen roll doused in sea water making sure you keep them cool in your cool box- then periodically give them a little drink with fresh sea water if you're planning a long session. To be honest ...

theres so many rods and reels to choose from- you could give Clacton Angling a ring to see if they have any second hand rods and reels in that would suit you- Dave the owner is a very nice bloke and he sells second hand as well as new. Walton pier can be a bit snaggy with lost gear and the clay bed ...

I guess you don't ever fish in a force 6 on the south coast then or try to cast 120+ yds. No need to get personal but as it happens I've fished plenty of times in strong winds on Kent and Essex/Suffolk coasts not that it has anything to do with it- unless your south coast winds are something specia...

why is a fully carbon rod essential? plenty of rods with glass in them that cast well and dont flap in the wind- they're more responsive in my view- fully carbon rods can be lifeless which isnt really what you want when bassing.

It's not so long ago on here that someone on this thread complained about a cheapish rod they bought being floppy, falling to bits and the rings rusting- my philosophy is you get what you pay for. The old ABU 7000's and Mitchells were top of the pile at the time rabbi- why did you buy those when you...
