Braid & Shock Leader ?

Hi all, Back again for more guidance. Just started fishing a 6000 size fixed spool with 30lb braid and a 15-65lb leader. Works very well, being getting nice distance with little effort (& bare finger) with an 11'6" bass rod + 4Oz..... AND catching fish too! The double grinner knot does rattle throug...

..stripped the new reel down today and the main bearings just fell out - they're a rattling fit in the casing halves.......the resulting rock on the handle when winding is very noticeable and a bit concerning as I suspect the bearings will start to oval & widen the seats in the plastic case halves, ...

Breakaway tackle also sell a support sleeve for the 7HT range. Its a simple fit from outside the reel (no need to disassemble). Remove the handle nut retainer and nut, followed by the shaft circlip & washer (no need to even remove the handle if you dont want to). The support sleeve is inserted over ...

Quality Beach Fixed Spool

Hi All, Would welcome your Fixed spool experience as I need to replace some Chinese junk that's rapidly losing the will to keep up with the sunny day, 5kt, no swell/no current type of conditions that call for 2Oz at 50yds to hook up with the local flatties. I've bought cheap in May & now regret it -...

....another few weeks of practice & fishing....getting the hang of this now. My wife took a few video clips which showed me pulling the rod around, whilst looking rearwards. As I thought, I was "trying" to follow the lead around.....by the time I was looking ahead & released, the rod had travelled t...

Hi - been a few weeks since the last post on this subject, so good point for an update on the Sufix Elite. I don't have much experience with lots of different lines, in fact I've bought a few different types to try out this year as a sort of experiment to find out which I like best. Predominantly us...

....only had the chance for a few hours on the beach this weekend, sadly me previously found form didn't accompany me ! I was using a different reel, but I don't think that was the cause of my problems. No frap-ups, but low & left casts. Thinking back this week as to what I may be doing, I seem to r...

For Rig bodies.....with a 50/60lb shock leader I guess I should be using at least 50/60lb for the rigs. I'm currently using Ultima Seastrike......but I think there must be something a lot better out there in the 60-80lb class that knots up nicely. ...just replaced a frayed Ultima Powerflex tapered 1...

Rig Bodies

Hi,

Another question for you all - I'd like to learn what folks are using (prefer) for their rig bodies ? Bit of a census I guess, just curious to see if there is line that seems to be more popular than most and the reason why people prefer it

Many Thanks

Great link sniggle - amazing to see these results. Also a lot of brands that I'm not familiar with, but Tritanium (favourite of many) faired very well on both tests. I spooled up with the Elite 20lb 0.33mm and spent a couple of hours on the beach with it Sunday. Tapered Leader Grinner (0.35) snugged...
