Shock Leader

I have posted before re: shock leader, neglected to ask,,,, How much line should be used to make sure leader is safe? can I just use 55-60lb line and not bother with a leader?
I think I am only capable of light casting ie: 2,3,4 possibly 5lb weight.

All answers are much appreciated..

Regards
Dave

rabbi2 wrote:Hi mate, Although you are using only a 3oz weight personally I would still use a shock leader, a length of 30 or 40 line would suffice.

The rule of thum is normall 10lb line to every oz of weight ie 5oz = 50lb shockleader.

Shock Leader... Yes or No?

Hi I am really new to all of this so all advice welcome. I will be using 18lb line with a 3oz weight, this will be my max due to my illness. I have been told that as I will be using a small weight there will be no need to add a leader to my line. I will be beachcasting mainly and I will try to avoid...

Never Fished Before.

I would appreciate any help at all. I would like to know where it would be possible to beach or pier cast, area between Hartlepool and whitby/scarborough. I have 2 telescopic beachcasters. I will soon buy another rod but this will be when I know where I can actually fish from. Is it possible to just...
