spurn bait

If you've been catching a few small cod I'm switching to mackeral. All I've caught this year is whiting, whiting and more whiting. All on lug, lug and squid tip or lug and mackeral tip.

Had a boat at Weel Bridge about 12 years ago and found a dead one about 30" long in the River Hull just north of the bridge.

I've got a Sundridge 2 piece. They are remarkably warm when you're on a beach in the winter but far too warm in the warmer months. I do wear them seperately but never go into the water and don't fish off rocks.

Great day apart from the lack of fish but nice to put faces to names and have a good chat. That sausage and egg sarnie was magic Mick. Well done to winners but really well done to everyone who attended especially the cooks!

Humber freezing not new

I remember going down to the pier in Hull about 1963 to watch large ice flows floating by after the estuary froze. They were huge and as far as I know, the whole estuary was frozen apart from the shipping channels which had been broken up by the many ships that used the river in those days. Global w...

Hornsea North Beach - Sunday 2nd Jan

Arrived at beach about 9.30am. There were already about 10 others there. Sea looked pretty rough but gave it a go. Cast out and before rod was on rest, 6oz of lead was 100yds south of cast. Hoped it would settle down as the tide came in but was then completely swamped with weed. Lost one rig and was...

Hi Gazzariff. From your description I would guess that the knot between your mainline and your shock leader is letting you down. What type of knot are you using? It needs to be a grinner knot. You need a shock leader for safety reasons. If you snap your line when casting., a lump of lead flying abou...

Don't worry squidhead

Don't worry too much about your angiogram squidhead. It sounds far scarier than it is. I had one and was scared stiff but after a few minutes thinking they were going to start soon, one guy said "we're in the left ventrical now and I hadn't felt a thing. The worst bits are when they put some fluid i...
