I agree with you Fozzy- have you tried the Daiwa ST yet? Talk about noisy- I had to wear ear defenders with the one I used :-O I haven't but I do have a TG F1 Rocket reel which is brilliant. Only thing I didn't like was the drag so I changed it for a star drag and its now my favourite fishing reel....

I'd personally go for the Akios as the 7HT Mag is not only overbraked, but the drag doesn't lock up tight enough. It's probably to do with the power handle having more torque and preventing damage to the gears.

Never used an Akios but seriosuly considering getting the shuttle.

If you are using small baits in the DVice,then they can eject prematurely as they really need to be jammed in. To stop the bait ejecting, stuff some moss or seaweed in the tube - this will solve the problem.

An alternative would be to use the new DV8 Mini - as these have a much smaller tube.

don't expect the best factory finish in the world with them though - there is nothing wrong with them, but when I bought my pair, they were slightly different colours and the whippings on one at the first ring was longer than the other :D Brilliant rods though - definately my favourite. ive been told by a few people that having the drag a little loose when casting can wreck the gears so make sure its tight before you cast it. also told that when packing the reel away that i should have the drag set fairly loose. not sure the reason for this but only takes a second so i do it anywa...

Why not just use a DVice ? You can put big baits in them and bang them out miles without them exploding.

clean the joints thoroughly and leave to dry out in the house for a couple of days.

I only use Abu Griplocks - purely because they work.

I've used coasters in the past, but I found they are a faff to align the reel with the rod rings and the screw-down clamps break off (Uk Hooks and Daiwa - shame on you).

Never had a problem with comfy coasters (Breakaway) but I prefer Griplocks.

I had a waggle of one in SpottyDogTackle a couple of months ago and I must admit it is a very nice rod - well built and not too stiff in the tip.

The one with the fish names on is the Breakaway one which you can get from most tackle shops or via mail order from Veals.

Before you start spraying it with stuff, try bringing it into the house and leave it in the open to dry out for a couple of days. It might be a bit of damp in the joints and after its dried out should go together perfectly.
