Anyone got any tips on how too reduce tackle losses as this is really rough ground fishing with hard flow of the tide and creel pots everywhere, at times the wind and tide conditions make 8 ozs of lead necessary losing a lot of gear just now. Thanks for response, Yes all fish fight as hard as normal ravenous appetites all at about 1lb in wieght nothing to suggest they are unhealthy. flesh firm no unusual or unpleasant odour and of course they taste great lol. Firth of Forth around Fifeness From a small boat.

Fished last 3 days all good around Fifeness with feathers and baited feathers from small boat, caught plenty of mackeral cod and a few decent pollack. Mackeral seem very early this year, no complaints though they are good fun good bait and good smoked need to find a good spot for some nice flatties....

I am interested and would like to attend this trip I am retired and can attend most times, but would bring my own honda inflatable boat unfortunately is only max of 2 people for sake of comfort. I do not know about aberdeen m8 but people are catching mackerel a bit further south around dundee and fifeness, not many but they are there, main run of fish not here for another month as far as i am aware.#

Places to fish on Bute.

You will be surrounded by a wealth of fish, wrasse pollack coalies doggies along with mullet mackerel and the possibility of many others. Speak to locals is number one item on your agenda upon arrival, I would concentrate on wrasse and pollack close in spin and feather or legered or floatfished crab...
