Mullet fishing in Pompey Harbour
After watching loads of good sized mullet and getting them to feed at a different mark in the same creak, I gave it ago Friday after work. Usual setup; light waggler rod, 6lb line using bread on a size 8 hook. I saw several large wise old mullet carefully avoid my hook bait while eating my ground ba...

A thick lip in Gosport and a new PB!
Due to back problems I don't go fishing as much as I'd like. So I decided to scale down on the tackle and give mullet a go, which by the way I am a complete newbie at. I had a week off work and decided to start my foray into mullet fishing on the Thursday before my week off. My chosen venue was a cr...

I get more from the local beaches these days, although not in numbers and no bigger than about 1lb. How about HillHead Shanty Town? Although I have not been there recently. My favourite spot was near the start of the cliffs. If you look carefully you will see a part that never dries out. A good cast...

Sunday Day
Managed to get some peeler and decided not to fish Saturday evening hoping the weather might get better Sunday. Got to Lee on Solent Sunday about 11.30, the wind must of been F5. During 4 hours I had 6 x V. Small Hounds, 1 x V.small Thornback and with my last two casts (last bait) I had two Hounds, ...

Hi Mark, Magazine lane (Marchwood) is easy to fish but you need to reel in fast to avoid the snags. There should be sole, dogs, small hounds and pout there. For Hounds, as already mentioned Warsash (Cowes Lane) can fish well with the added bonus that it generally doesn't get crowed with other angler...

Solent Hounds
Decided to go fishing yesterday day at about 4.30. The wind was a lot stronger than I thought it would be. I caught the first of 6 x fish; a Hound at 14lb very first cast. During the next 3 hours I had a further 3 x Hounds that I didn't weigh because they looked slightly smaller but still a good 8lb...

Lee Tuesday night
Fished at Lee Tuesday night and didn't even have a bite until about 11 PM. Once the wind dropped slightly I causght a 9.5 lb Starry SmoothHound, 1 x Dog, 1 x dog sized SHound and a large pout. All fish were caught on a big Peeler bait. I am not sure if I caught once the wind dropped slightly because...

Stokes Bay
Went looking for a Spotted Ray on the 2nd, unfortunately at least 3 other clubs had beaten me to Gillkicker. I decided to fish Stokes Bay near the AlverBank. Bait was Sandeel, the pin whiting was preventing me from using Bluey; they hammered it as soon as it hit the water. I ended up with 1 dogfish ...

New PB Thornback Ray
Beat my PB for a Thornback Ray from the beach on Saturday night with a 11lb 4oz female caught using sandeel and Bluey from Lee on Solent area. Also had a Dogfish. They both went back. I am having problems uploading the photo, will try again later. http://img846.imageshack.us/i/110327111b4ozthornback...
