hello mate welcome to the forum.. the best thing i think to do is to go into a tackle shop where you can pick the rods up and get a feel for them,length tip action and so on i use the 2 piece daiwa meenstreaks 13ft nice soft action but with plenty of grunt where as my brother uses the daiwa emcast 1...

if your fishing on the pier there at lowestoft look out for Andy1_i he'll put you in amongst the fish with which rigs work on there and where the snags are i'm sure...he's been fishing there for years...and yes as the name reads he has one eye.... he's a great bloke and will help any newcomer to the...

yeah not too bad at all....i lost count of the whiting,,,my mate Joe who came with me had a sole 1lb 2oz such a nice fish..

i'm back down there friday night then again sunday afternoon and night to try and find the elusive codling..

hello mate the nearest bait and tackle centre is called Scratby Garden centre telephone number is 01493 730950 hope this helps...its only about a mile up the road from Caister. good worms too.

HI if you drive to Scratby a few miles away there is a fresh fish shop... a man called PAUL DYBLE advertises boat trips in there , he goes out from Yarmouth..

thanks guys thats a great help...i will only be going about 3-4 hundred yards out maximum. i already have an SAS mk6 floatation suit from boat fishing so that will be on at all times as it has reflective strips and a whistle not only that its warm i have bought some leash's for the rods and paddles ...
