Hi Waggoner,

There is a good page in this book:

The Fox Modern Guide to Sea Fishing: Shore Edition

It shows all the common UK species and when they are about.

If you are new to fishing, it's also full of other useful information about gear, bait, venues etc...

Tight lines! :)

That's great thanks, I'll drop you a PM closer to the time once we've got confirmed dates and I'll definately take you up on the offer for some crabs.

Funnily enough we stayed at Bellavista last year, we're just waiting to hear back from Kevin.

Great ray pic! Reading your East/West Cork reports has got me chomping at the bit here...I'm planning to come over to Cobh first week in November with my Dad for our annual Fishing trip. We were over there last September and had a fantastic time so are keen to get back. Any tips would be greatly app...

I've been toying with the idea of fishing from a kayak. The last time I went out in one was over 20 years ago in the North Sea! I've not fished Sea Town, I tend not to go any further than West Bay, but if there's fish there I might give it a try. Good luck, hope all goes well. Look forward to readin...

If you're looking to fish Chesil in Dorset, West Bexington is quite accessible. The car park has disable spaces but if you use the ones to the far left then it's about a 20-30yard walk over the beach to the shoreline.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for the confirmation Keith, best to check these things! ;) I've just been granted an evening fishing pass on Saturday night from my wife and Monday/Tuesday I'm in Cardiff for work but fishing at 4pm and the office is only 500yrds from the bay so I'll be able to get a few hours in there too......

Greys have stopped doing the Excursion now. In the end I went for a Penn Powerstix Pro 20-30lb and an Abu 7500. Looking forward to testing them out. I have a quick question about the rod. When I assemble it there is about a 1/2 inch section of the unlaquered blank still visible on each joint. Should...

I forgot to mention that it also comes in 7 or 8 feet....what's the pros/cons of an extra foot? (The bigger one is a 6 piece rather than 5 so they should both be the same size when packed).

Thanks again, tight lines!

New Travel Boat Rod

Afternoon, hope you all had a good Easter Break. Having just got my mid-life crisis car, I now realise that it's totally impractical for fishing! Rather than borrowing the wife's car every time, I'm going to get a travel boat rod so i'll just need her car when I go off the beach. I've been looking a...

Thanks for your posts. I'm hoping to get down before it gets warm enough for the tourists. It's been 3 months since I last fished due to a broken ankle :( I've been down the West wall but have never noticed the railings on the other side so it sounds like it's ideal to keep the little ones out the w...

West Bay Beach

Evening All, I'm looking to take my young kids out fishing for the first time. I was thinking that the beach at West Bay might be a good spot as there isn't as big a drop there compared to Abbotsbury where I usually go. Plus, when they get bored, my wife can take them for fish & chips and an ice cre...

Great post geejay! I was beginning to go off Chesil with the majority of my trips this year being pretty uneventful but you've proved the fish are out there and given me a bit of hope. I've also got a weekend pass from my lovely wife and will be going down there tomorrow. Do you have any tips for wh...
