Fishing 21/6/13

fished the riverside near roman way strood from late afternoon till about 12 midnite, took my 11 year old boy for his first time night fishing, to be honest i thought i may live to regret taking him in case he got bored! but he loved it, i showed him how to find peeler and let him get some firewood ...

Hi m8 why dont you try bait digging at gillingham or upnor? your get as many if not more lug as you will down the coast try the strand or riverside even a first time digger will dig 70 80 worms easy ;)

tophat no not sharps green towards the strand direction there is a corner near owens way at the bottom of gads hill its near some factorys hope this helps ;) maybe park on gads hill? or the strand and walk along

Hi tophat, I have dug lug 100s of times at riverside country park its easy digging and the lug are as good if not better than shop bought in size, if you go right outside the old riding school the mud is not to soft, if you go towards the strand in direction its softer mud but theres tons more worms...

Hi i confess i dont know a lot about putting a boat in the water but it might be worth looking at the strand in gillingham or around dymchurch maybe upnor depends if you want estury or sea :)

Theres a couple of pages about using whiting as live bait for cod in sea angler mag, always worth a try on a 3rd rod mr bass might even find it :)

what i always do is put the line on the reel and tape over it that way it saves you yards of line as well ,some fixed spool reels seem to me to hold much more line than you really need anyways :)

its worth spending 20 quid or so and buying a couple of crayfish traps your catch loads of shrimps prawns and crabs etc or have a look on the net and make one yourself, the only other thing you could do if you want cheaper bait is go to the supermarket just before it closes i often get herrin mackre...

I always fish up river at strood about 3 hours before low water and it fishes well the only other place you could try is upnor beach around the boat slips that way you avoid the buoys dont know how deep it is tho ;)

With all the rain lately why not try garden worm? easy to get them at night with a torch or under the street lights any kind of fish will take them. ;)
