I have used a form of "bolt rig" for Tope fishing from the boat since the mid 1980's. I have tried the circle hooks for two seasons matched against the "J" hooks on a pair of matching rods and traces. The results have convinced me that the hook up rate from "J" hooks exceeded that of the circle hook...

As already stated 15lb should be perfectly adequate. If you have any doubt wrap a few turns around your hands and try pulling to snap it. 15lb is an awful lot stronger than you may imagine. Even harder is putting it through the rings of a rod and trying to pull hard enough to snap it. The snaps that...

I can't comment on the values. However, Gemini also made uptide rods which were expensive but ackowledged as being the VERY BEST QUALITY. They sold out and never reproduced the range. I never got the chance to try one sadly. If the beachcaster is in the same class, it will be somthing rather special.

Ian mate the 14ft dejon was the worst boat I have ever owned. Ok for calm weather in the estuaries or the cannel. You are just as well off buying a punt. Save your money my friend cos they are like a T in a piss pot. Cheers keith :D :D +1 on these observations. Certainly NOT a vessel I would advise...

It's not a rumour that I have heard other than here. As an Orkney owner I hope that it is just rumour. The company has proudly boasted they made fishing boats, not just boats you could fish from. Against the direction the industry in general was moving, Orkney continued to produce boats rated for a ...

The question you need to ask is, how much am I willing to spend? The greater the outlay the better the resulting equipment. In the leisure user aspect of the industry Lowrance takes some beating. In all honesty the use of colour for the sonar side of the display does nothing for me whatsoever. The u...

As redmouse says, try first to gain your money back or rplacement goods. If you get no joy, the position of the crack means all is not lost. Overwhipping of the joint with quality thread and doping and varnishing will probably last the lifetime of the rod. For peace of mind a new rod or money back i...
