Personally, I would go for the daiwa 7HT Mag. The casting and retrieve are both good. The Penn 525 Mag is also good and the retrieve is supurb. The Abu 6500's are good reels although the retrieve is crap. If you are fishing over snaggy ground you will be lucky not to lose rigs. They have always been...

If I was you, I would go for either a Primo Synchro, Primo Hi-flex or M4 Hi-flex match. Depending on what level of angler you are, the M4 Evo is a very powerful rod and is not for the faint hearted. It is a straight through carbon and is very stiff. It takes a lot of effort to compress. You will not...

We just have not had the right weather for the cod this year. Hardly any South Westerly winds. I know in Dungeness they are coming out but not in great numbers. Odd one here and there. Simple: NO HEAVY SW BLOWS = NO FOOD = NO COD!!! I have heard that all the cod that have been caught have been taken...

Whiting are a pain ain't they.

Cod fishing should pick up at Dungeness after we have had some strong South Westerly winds. Once we have 3-4 strong SW winds then veering round North the fish should hopefully show.

Conditions were not great for Cod this weekend. SE winds are not ideal.

I personally would fish Deal after some strong NE winds.

Hi Martin, Whilst the Beach Buddy is a good shelter I would much rather go for and I would highly recommend the Ian Golds Igloo. It is just as easy to set up and it has a lot more space. I have tried numurous shelters (including the beach buddy) and I would say the Igloo has got to be my favourate. ...

Glad you had a good day.

Hopefully things should start to pick up down there shortly. I will be taking a gamble and going mid next week as we have got some strong SW winds forecast for this weekend. Playing it by the weather though!

Hi Jolliroger, To answer your question, no I have never used Razorfish or clams down there. The only time I would use them is if the weather was very rough and they were to get washed up on the beach. Although I have never witnessed that at Deal. I think the best bait at Deal is yellowtail lug. If y...

Early Cod start at Deal!!!

I decided to start my Cod season early this year down in Deal.

Would have posted this earlier but had problems with my configuring my camera to my phone.

Caught an early Cod on 17th September.

9ib 8oz

Hopefully a sign of things to come!!

As Lee saids, it does get busy down there. As soon as there is a report of cod it attracts anglers like metal to magnet! I would never fish there at night during cod season as the difficult thing is the tide run at Dungeness. You need to cast up tide and it is difficult to do that when you have got ...
