No problem Ian....the west coast is not an area i fish at all so i wont be able to help you out much.....the solway I hear is good for bass and there are many rock marks for decent pollack as well but dont know about any further up as i think most guys tend to travel east. never once did i suggest that this site is "Inferior" to any other in anything i have wrote and i am certainley not "boosting" WSF in any way. What I have found is that a lot of guys up here just dont use forums to report about catches or marks and any that do use a far more popular site than this one which I will refrain from mentioning. the programmes are ok for watching as i watch them over and over. As for advice you dont really get much advice on them for anglers just the occasional little bit about rigs if you are lucky.
