Should have said 'is it unusual to catch bass' at this time of year. If it is just me catching them I must be good!

Cod, does anyone catch anything in the daytime

This is my first 'winter' of sea fishing and have to admit to being a little put off with the conditions that have to be met in order to catch cod. According to magazines, it has to be dark, a little bit stormy or just after a storm, a certain tide and having the ability to cast 500 metres! When I s...

Bawdsey - Sat 6

what a perfect night, not too cold and no wind, well to be honest evening, packed up about 6:30. My first adventure in the dark, great fun. Only caught a few tiddlers, including 2 small bass, is that normal at this time of year?

I am always amazed you guys can be bothered to respond, thank you, you are a very nice bunch! Me a cheap skate?, 600 quid on the basic tackle, it is amazing what you just have to have, nothing fancy, really! Hundreds on petrol, lots of wasted hours; the best not checking the coastal weather, driving...

1lb of Lug, how much?

just spent weekend North Norfolk, got there Friday with howling wind and in my naivety hoped at sometime over the weekend I could get some fishing in, made a panic purchase of lug and was charged 18 quid for 1 lb - in the end they went to waste, the weather was impossible, was I ripped off or is tha...

multiplier shock leader knot

After lots of thinking about it, I went and bought an ABU multiplier. Went to salthouse today and had my very first attempt, after a few embarrassing attempts I started to get the feel for it and finally it went flying off. Slight problem was that my rig and weight kept going without the rest of the...

Multiplier reels at night?

A strange question: I have been thinking of buying a multiplier reel, never used or tried one, from what I can understand as soon as the weight hits the water you need to use your thumb to slow it down. What do you guys do in the dark and you have no idea when your lead is going to hit? Am I being r...

can't wait to hear how that went! I haven't been at this long, ventured out a few weeks ago, two hour drive, seemed OK, thought to myself can't be just a fair weather wimp. By the time I had got to the water I am not kidding I could just about stand up it was blowing so hard, went home, a good learn...

it was all a little strange in the end, a change of plan and ended up in Hearne Bay spending some time with the wife. I just happened to have my spinning rod in the boot so while there thought why not have a go. Conditions were lovely, end of the day, tide coming in - and I don't really know how it ...
