Hounds at Blue Anchor

Fished the pavement at Blue Anchor and caught my first Smoothie on Friday evening :D
Weighed in just shy of 9lb.
Caught with one lug tipped off with party squid on a pennel rig.

The previous night saw 3 pulled in between a couple of guys.
Thinking prehaps they've come in to spawn?

Conger is definately showing at Blue Anchor. Fishing from the pavement always seems to see some pulled in. Getting them in, up over the wall can sometimes see some drop back into the water. Medium to large baits comprising of Mackerel or Squid/worm cocktails seem to work well. The usual doggies are ...

the mackerel.... take a good look next time you haul out 'just a mackerel'.... have a look at the colours, the shape and the way the fins fit into recesses in the body to give it least resistance at speed, a wonder of design. Agree 100%, Ok so there are many, more stunning fish out there, but to th...

OOOH! nasty, but you can always do what i do, im a smoker and roll my own, so i put one of the filter tips over the hook so if i slip its not a disaster. Filter tips are light, small easy to take off again, and you can carry over a hundred in a very small carton. Mick That's a bloody good idea. I h...

Here's a few spots around the Newquay area, with a reference to which fish are available; HOLYWELL BAY. A good beach for bassing using peeler crab, sandeels and large mackerel fillet. As with all Cornish beaches don't cast too far out for bass but if using two rods try whacking one further to try yo...

Your rigs fine, as mentioned already you may want to increase hook size, depending on the size bait you're using. You're almost certain to not pull in any monsters fishing Charmouth, however the Bass are present. Bass like to run, sometimes they will attack from the side and then come back and run w...

Just got in from another session at Seaton. Thought I would test my already proven theory again. Me, the missus and 2 others on the beach. I'm between them fishing with Hockeyes, the other 3 are fishing with the blue feathers. We fished for about 3 hours with me only catching 4 Mackerel on the Hocke...

Hi Jerry, cheers. As with all my fishing finds, except good Bass marks, I tend to pass the info on. My "fail safe" or just lucky method for Mackerel is simply in the feathers. I tend to go for the blue feathers on a smaller size hook. Usually cut a couple of hooks off too. The smaller hooks tend to ...

Shingle ground in rough conditions, your'll need heavier line also, if fishing the bottom. The tide will wash shingle over your line and weaken it in no time. Even on a calm days fishing on a shingle beach, when you pack up, reel the line in through your fingers and your'll feel how rough the line h...

My 2 pence for shore feathering. With feathering I like to keep moving, so light gear is essential. I use a medium to heavy 9ft spinning rod. My choice of reel is either a baitcaster or Daiwa Regal (fixed spool). For tackle I would suggest using blue feathers with smaller hooks, as apposed to the ov...

Hi mate, Profiles updated with location & sig but it's not showing on my posts.

I'm from Somerset, luckily surrounded by the Devon and Dorset coastline.
I get up, pick a direction, and go fish :)

Seaton -Devon last night 27.04.2008

Now my quick hello's out the way, time for my first informative post. After a drive to West Bay, found only a hard wind followed by showers, we drove across the border to Seaton in Devon. We reached Seaton around 16:30 (high tide was around midnight). The sun was out and the wind was hardly noticeab...
