Well they werent there this morning, I fished 4:30-8:30, and only had 2 tiny pollock. I stayed on the lower deck until 7:30 then spotted macks coming up on the middle so went for a quick chuck, but still had nothing. I've caught loads of fish throughout the year but desparate to get a gar before the...

I was gonna pop down selsey tonight but have heard rumours of silly amounts of weed and very few fish. I think I'm gonna go hayling way, maybe eastney. Last thursday I was down hayling on groynne 28, wind was stupid strong and we couldnt see any bites, but first cast I had a smoothy and the biggest ...

Kev I got a massive poor cod too last night from hayling, it must have been 14oz at least, but looking into it the shore record is only 11oz, so may have broken the record if I'd not thrown it back. You should have stayed local though I fished hayling and had poor cod, smoothhound, bass, bream, and ...

does sound like they've turned up at last, I saw a few shoals down hayling the other day and took out 8 in the end, but could have got a lot more. They are pretty cool to watch though I was in cornwall a couple of months ago and there was a shoal about the size of a football pitch, thousands of them...

Your thinking is right, the weak link on the line would always be the 18lb knot, but the knots to tie 18lb to 18lb would put equal pressure on both lines. A spider hitch has two knots a couple of inces apart which puts more pressure on the higher strength line, and as it's spread over two knots decr...

I'm not as keen on the old tapered leaders as everyone else, I used to use them but after reading an article in Total sea fishing, they recon the breaking strain on the leader knot isnt too hot, especially when it's been used a few times. Admittedly the knots are much smaller and are more manageable...

Eastneys still thowing up a few decent sized ones, this year is most definately a better one than last for bream, but if you want the best chance as clarissa says pagham by the rocks, or near the lifeboat station should defiantely give you a few.

With this wind as eccles said hayling may throw up a few bass, but if the weed is about then go down south parade pier, it might be busy but you should defiantely get some bream to lug or rag tipped with squid or mack, down the side of the pier there might be a pollock or two and maybe the chance of...

Weed around hayling

Alright all, just wondering what the weed situation around hayling is at the moment? I only ask I've got to go fishing (as if I didnt want to!) tonight as I've got a load of bait, I'm meeting a mate and I've got a night pass from the misses. But wanted to know if there's stupid amounts of weed about...
