Walton 16 October

Arrived at the pier at around 16.00 and headed up to the end. Very few people fishing at this time none on the stem and 3/4 on the end. I headed to the end and fished the middle spot until around 18.30 and then the RH corner. Sea was very coloured with a bit of chop so things looked good although th...

Also had my first trip to Walton for a few months last Saturday. Fished from around 5.00 - 21.00 in the top left corner. Lug (blow, blacks and salted), squid and mackerel were the baits fished on flappers, boom rigs and loop rigs - generally smallish hooks #1 except the loop rig 2/0. Catch was simil...

Late report for Walton pier 20 March

Christine and I made our way over to the pier for a day session last Saturday. Arrived at 9.30, no one on the stem but a few on the end when we arrived so we set up on the right hand side - I also put a rod out off the end between guys that were already there. Weather not bad and water had plenty of...

Walton pier 20.02.10

The wife and I made the trip to Walton on Saturday for the first time this year. Stopped off for breakfast at the cafe before picking bait up from Metalite and hit the pier around 12.30. Walked down to the lifebelt past the second hut and set up two rods each. We fished until 17.30 and then packed u...

This Saturday fishing Walton Pier ?

After a break since before Christmas the wife and I are planning to give Walton Pier a bash on Saturday. Just spoke to Richard (at Metcalfes) who said that one or two fish have been showing over the last few days - anyone got any other information? Depending on how far the work has progessed will tr...

Late report for Walton 02.02.10

I had planned to hang the rods up until Feb but could not resist a quick visit on Saturday before the pier closes for repairs. It turned out that alot of people had the same idea. The end was very full so I fished by the lifebelt near the lifeboat. Usual baits blow lug, frozen blacks and squid and v...

Aldeburgh and Walton 19&20 December

Late report for the above. My original plan was to fish the day tide at Aldeburgh and then the night tide at Walton. However, after spending 8 hours on the beach I felt like getting warm and to my surprise was given the green light to go out again on the Sunday at Walton during the day so went home ...

walton pier

Anyone fished the pier since the works have started? I was thinking of having a go on Saturday on the return journey from Aldeburgh. Probably target dabs and sole (if they are still around) over the sand that you can cast to from the concrete area on the Harwich side. Any up to date infomatiom welco...

Codcrazy

How do I get to this mark - I have looked on Google maps but it is not clear? Is there a bait shop nearby that will supply fresh lug?

Thanks

Another Walton 21.11.09 report

Sad to say that I can only confirm Essexdanglers and others comments about Saturday. Was there in the right corner on the end from 8.00 to 17.30 and had a number of whiting, small dog, pout and a dab (dab on a 4/0 pennel with whole squid). Not a codling in sight. Did see a large weaver and one codli...

Boat trip from Weymouth definitely cancelled so I will definitely up Walton way.

Just checked the forecast again and the winds are now predicted to ease over the weekend but with quite a bit of rain from 15.00 onwards on Saturday. Hopefully this will tempt the cod inshore.

Given the forecasted weather for the weekend it looks like my boat trip will be cancelled so will probably be joining you on the pier - as it looks as though it will quite rough probably somewhere near the lifeboat. I will wander up and say hello - lets hope the cod are there. Planning to try a live...
