In the summer, for my lighter fishing, I use a fixed spool reel. In the winter, when things start getting tough, I use a Penn 535gs with 35lb line straight through, or a slosh 20 with 20lb main line and a 60lb shockleader. I love watching the dolphins up your end of the country. The first time I saw them was from the ramparts of Fort George.

Hoping to get up to Lossie later this year to visit some friends, and hopefully get some fishing done.

They took bluey and ignored rag and macky.

Not exactly conclusive, but it shows they DO catch fish.

Please don't waste your money....the stuff is totally useless. Ask yourself,, why would anyone pulp perfectly good peeler crabs which can sell for up to £1 each ? I know of dozens of anglers who have been conned by the ads on eBay (myself included) and have yet to hear of anything being caught on it...

Good luck on the pier Stuart.

If you're in the market for a new rod, don't discount the Reelsport Response.
Terry Woods makes them at S. Shields, on a specially made Century blank.

Check out his website....just google reelsport response.

Stuart. The Anubis is simply a superb fishing rod. It is the easiest rod to cast I've ever owned, and despite having immense power it is very sensitive. It is designed for use in VERY harsh conditions, but is equally at home on a clean beach if you want to use it there. However, if you don't fish in...
