Brighton Weekend Fishing

Wow - fished brighton this weekend as visiting relatives - the wind was howling, the sea was pounding and i got nought. Fished the marina saturday evening and it was ridiculous but had to give it a go, only allowed to take a rod and feathers but better then nothing - it was quite rough but fun. Got ...

Spinning = fantastic Plymouth spinning = rubbish

I fish around plymouth a lot and it never has been the best area for spinning, if you catch thing more then a pollack, mackerel or gar well done. If i was you i would plug around wembury/heybrook area for a chance of bass.

One day i will go fishing.............

How depressing due to circumstances and the constant rubbish weather at weekends i have not fished now since the first weekend in Februaury. It feels like cabin fever - and what is worst the earliest it looks like i can go is not until first or second weekend of May.

Obviously it is very early in the season for spinning but you will start to see some benefits. I would really head towards the torquay area as i think here will be more productive then around plymouth.

When i feather it is for bait collection only - always cut a couple of feathers off and have no more then 3. Just seems to make things a bit fairer.

For me it is very simple - if i do not need it i will throw it back - cut and dry. Even trophy fish can go back because all mobile phones have a decent cam on now for a snap shot.

Devils Point has always been a recognised conger hotspot - but on bigger tides it can race. Have to agree if you fish around the BC you will get them and you do not have to fish at night because the water is pitch black anyway. Use mackerel only for the eels as squid will bring on too many other spe...

At least around Plymouth you will never be short of choices to fish. Good luck.

I only order from Veals - they are excellent. If there ever has been a fault they have been right on the phone and it is always rectified the next day. What is confusing in Bristol there are 2 Veals, one is the mail order warehouse, and the other an everyday tackle and bait shop also called Veals - ...

Hi I have fished eype twice and blanked both times - i have learnt nice fresh bait and fish more towards the west of the beach. Here the ground is bit more rough and i reckon a better chance of a vareity of species. It always has struck me as a big bass beach. Try a mackerel head just behind the bre...

Agree with the Firetip gear, ironically i have just bought my dad the 13ft surf and it looks amazingly more expensive.

For the mackerel only use feathers if you are collecting bait, otherwise yes it has to be a dexter with no more than 10lb line to ensure some good fun.
