Thanks for this, it answers a few other questions, other than the one I asked.

So, grin and bear it seems to be the order of the day!

Thanks again for taking the time.

Drift Fishing Advice

Hi y'all, I've just started fishing from my first boat. I've completed the RYA's Power Boat Level II and I'm looking to build up some experience. My question is that, except on the calmest of days, once on the drift the boat turns naturally side-on to the wind and waves. This makes for quite an unco...

Hi y'awl, I've been down and spoke to the car park attendent - a very nice man with brown knees! The seaward facing wall is open to fishing right down to the west arm and there is no plans to close it off. They have closed the west arm, but since I've been fishing there (a couple of years), it alway...

I've been busy this week, but I'll go down next week and see what I can find out. Like you, I'll be more than miffed if they're closing this area down to anglers.

This can't be the only sea wall that you park next to in the southeast. If anyone knows of another, please let us know.

I think it needs a recce. I'll pop down and ask around. The local pub might be a good place for local info and I can have a pint at the same time!

Watch this space ....

Harwoody, Is that the car park at the end of Fort Road that they've closed? I hope not, it's the only place I like to fish, especially when it's wet and cold (I can jump in the car and watch the rods from there). I've had some good days there, mackerel, whiting and bass, on the other hand I've had m...

Normans Bay? That'll be a nice ride on the bike from Horsham - I used to do it everyday when I worked in Hastings and I'd make a detour especially for the morning view along the coast road. Sad puppy. Thanks Tim. Incidentally, if anyone is interested, I did ask Redfern what a pasteurised mussel look...

Thanks Harwoody, that's just the info I was looking for! I'll check it out and if you see a biker on a maroon Pan European (with a bucket!) that'll be me.

Thanks again!

I've had a reply from 'FishFanatics' and this is what they say, "The green lip mussels are cooked at source. The Bantry Bay Mussels are pasteurised." God knows what pasteurising makes them look like if you open one up? I might ask them, but I fear when they find out I want to use their chefs delight...

Hi Seaspray, The Cuckmere flows into the sea at Cuckmere Haven, and I've spent some time there collecting limpets, but I've never seen a mussel, which I must admit I found a bit odd. If anyone knows the area better than me and knows something different, I'd be grateful. I've only looked on the east ...

OK, thanks for the info everyone. I've found this web site - http://www.fishfanatics.co.uk/ and asked them if their mussels are raw or cooked before freezing. When I get an answer, I'll post it here. Thanks everyone for your help, and if anyone does know of a good accessible mussel bed somewhere bet...

Would that be cooked and frozen or raw and frozen?
