Hi Solehunter Welcome. Hows the fishing over there? I'm thinking about taking my car and kayak over on the ferry to the island to fish a mark on the eastern side of the needles near Freshwater Bay. Is there any easy access down to the beach there? If access is difficult do you know where the nearest...

Going from the ones I have caught, if fish skin were a sandpaper I'd give LSD's a medium grade and Bull Huss a coarse grade. :D Take care when handling them.

Nicely put Starvin. Mrix you've hit the nail on the head - kayaking is fun even without the fishing. I've yet to blank but if I did its still a great day out on the water. You don't necessarily have to go out that far - sometimes just out of casting range from the shore can put you into fish - Poole...

Hi Giles Sounds like you have caught the bug :) Never tried eating wrasse although have heard they taste like sh#t. :P :D If you're after fish for the table without having to go into the complexity of targetting prized fish I suggest you try feathering for mackeral. Bournemouth pier may produce as m...

Hi Giles. Nice weather sandy beaches and quiet weekend fishing don't really go together in the Bournemouth area. If you are set on weekend daytime fishing and don't wish to travel far I would try Hengistbury Head groyne, one of the groynes at Sandbanks (Poole Harbour entrance) or Bournemouth Pier. I...

Do many people have access to the room where the waste is kept? If so perhaps you could sneak a digital camera in there and take some pics. At least there will be evidence.

Good question.. wind - if anything a bit of surf will stir things up a bit and perhaps bring them on the feed. As for the rain I dont think this makes any difference however the low air pressure and cloud cover associated with it might (for some species). Suggest fishing fairly close in for the bass...

Thanks Ian this helps a lot. I will let you know how I get on.

I think after the next set of springs I will start to target this area. In the meantime I'm after bream in Poole Bay.

Is there much weed about where you fish?

Thanks for that Ian. I live Bournemouth way but my fishing is sometimes focussed in the central solent area. Sowley Beach is now closed to the public. The kayak will allow me to fish close in there. I'm not sure about the viability of catching a stinger from the kayak too! I don't doubt that they ar...
