Hythe
Fished Hythe Tuesday (8th) for two and a half hours (time was limited) - 2 hours before high tide and 30 mins after. Had 25 plus smallish Whiting (7 to 9 inches typically), a small dogfish and a smallish Thornie (about 2lbs). Used squid and makeral in a 2 hook paternoster. Weather was grey and reaso...

Walmer - 17 Oct 2016
After a lengthy break and a cardiac arrest thought I should once again start boring people here with a few posts. Fished Walmer (opposite the castle) yesterday from 10.30 am to 2.30 pm (2 hours before and after high tide). Nothing until high tide except tons of weed, even when fishing close in. As s...

Dungeness - Are there any fish left in the sea?
Fished Dungeness today for 2 hours before and 2 hours after high tide. Result: 1 feeble little Whiting. I was lucky though I think because of all the people there (I could see 20 plus rods) I and the chap next to me were the only one who caught anything (he had 1 feeble Whiting as well and was there...

Walmer 20/3/14
Sorry this is a bit late but......... fished Walmer 20/3/14 for 2 hours either side of high tide. Had 12 dogfish, 5 small pouting, 3 small whiting and a small codling. Used squid and mackerel fillet. Water was coloured but the sun was shining. Just wish I could catch something of a decent size!

Sandwich Bay 18/1/2014
Fished Sandwich Bay yesterday (the Royal Golf Club). Loads of little pin Whiting and one small codling (less than 30cm but my first in over 3 years) in 3 hours using squid and mackrel. The breeze blew and the sun shone - a relaxing 3 hours. Dengemarsh next I think. If the have stopped ploughing up t...

Jury's Gap 19/11/13
Fished Jury's Gap 10.30 am to 2.00 pm. Slow start with just a couple of Dabs but picked up after high tide (11.30) with 10 Whiting (3 or 4 were of keeping size but went back) and a reasonable Dogfish. Used squid and mackerel at about 100ms range. The sun was shining but there was plenty of colour in...

Walmer 5 Nov
Fished Walmer beach 10.30 to 14.00. There was a fair swell on and a lot of colour in the water; I used squid and Mackerel. I caught on almost every cast with a tally of 6 small dogfish and 20 plus Whiting of which about 4 were of keepable size. All went back though. It's the biggest tally I have had...

Walmer 11/6
Thought it was time to put a little something on here to see if it will encourage others to do the same. So here goes........ Fished Walmer 11/6, 1 hour before high tide to 2 hours after high tide. Used squid and mackerel. Results were 11 doggies, 1 reasonable pouting and a 7.5 lbs thornback, my bes...

Noss Mayo/Holbeton
Greetings all!
I'm visiting the Yealm/Erme area for 4 days next week and would appreciate a little advice on the fishing there. Is it good? How should I fish (spin, float etc.)? What are the best baits?
Any advice would be most welcome.
Cheers

Dengemarsh 30/1/12
Spent 5 hours at Dengemarsh on 30th Jan, 2.5 hours either side of high tide. Used lug, squid and mackeral casting long and short............... Not a thing was caught - not a bite seen. Am I missing a trick here? I don't claim to be the world's finest angler but have never blanked at Dengemarsh befo...

I'm assuming that you will be at Kingsdown near Walmer/Deal. You are likely to get plenty of Whiting, a few Doggies and the odd flattie. There seem to be few cod around at the moment. I use 2 and 3 hook rigs with squid and mackrel or both. People also use lug but I have to say that I've not found th...

Walmer 30 Oct
Fished Walmer Sunday 30/10 from 11.30 am to 3.30 pm. Mackrel & Squid used on 2 and 3 hood rig. Sea was pretty flat and clear for the time of year so things were slow. Final tally - 2 Whiting (one reasonable), 1 smallish Doggie and one surprise Red Gurnard (never had one of those before!). I think we...
