Totally agree with what Eccles put above. Its worth having some bait elastic handy if you have trouble keeping them on the hook or want to use more than one as a bigger bait.

Hove Beach

Hi all, Took my little boy fishing this morning for a short session on Hove beach. Fished from 10-1:30, HT just before 1. Used king rag and squid strip/fresh black and squid strip on 2 hook clipped up rigs. Had 4 Plaice biggest going 33 & 35cm, both were dispatched for dinner. Also had a few casts w...

Hove Beach April 21st

Hi All, Fished Hove beach yesterday morning from 7 til 11 with my little boy. Baits were frozen blacks tipped with squid strip and plenty of bling in the hope of a Plaice or two. Managed a nice plump 32cm Plaice on the first cast and then a small Dab, loads more bites but no more hook ups for me eve...

Pesky dogs! I had to quickly jump on my bait yesterday to stop one getting stuck into my squid. Unlucky on the session mick, always a bit hit and miss at this time of year I guess. Better than being stuck indoors though :)

Seaford Friday

Fished Seaford yesterday for a few hours with my brother, very slow just 3 rockling and a dab caught. Bait was fresh blacks and squid. Had intended on fishing Brighton beach as theres lots of plaice coming up but decided against fishing with the masses as i had my little boy with me. At least he enj...

Hi Daz Who u out with next weekend? I was out on grey viking 2 about 6 weeks ago, I only landed one pollock but there was plenty of others landed upto 12lb, the vast majority were caught on rhubarb and custard sidewinders. Will be good to hear how u get on. I should be out again in a couple of weeks...

I'd recommend the Supercasts Mick. I've had a pair for about a year now and they've been excellent. I've got the fixed spool version rated up to 8oz and they easily cast a 7oz pennel of the ground style loaded with bait.

Mine's a strange one but was certainly a highlight. Visiting my brother in law and family down in Southampton back in May I think it was and he took me and his two lads to a bass mark somewhere in Southampton docks, Wasn't catching much as it was bang on low water when something slammed into my dext...

Not really too much to report back from Wednesdays trip to Seaford, finished with three whiting and a rockling, 2 of the whiting were a decent size, 35cm and nice and fat so they were filleted :) Fished from 10am to 6pm infront of the museum, HT was about half 3. Used 6/0 pennels on both rods with v...

Hi Busadon, there was a 22lb 8oz cod caught at seaford just over a week ago! Seen a photo of it, proper lump! I've heard there's been one or two smaller caught since so it seems to be fishing well for some people at the moment. Around christmas there would be the usual whiting and plenty of dabs at ...

Good to see one decent fish landed. Fishing on the rough ground can be really hit or miss. I've heard they're not catching many cod in this area yet and those that have been caught have come quite a way out, 8+ miles. How far did u go out Daz? I'm booked to go out from brighton marina on grey viking...

Yeah it was a good session ff. The whiting at seaford are always around in plague preportions at this time of year which makes it hard to catch anything else, certainly beats a blank though.

Cheers Daz. I hear they're still getting mackeral at brighton marina. I had a short early morning float fishing session there a couple of weeks back but it was surprisingly quiet. I blanked and only saw one macky from about 30 other anglers. Think i'll next be out on the big set of tides during mid ...

Seaford Fri 26th

Fished seaford beach last night with my brother from 4-10pm, HT was just after 10. Not a bad session considering conditions weren't great. Had a couple of mackeral and a small pollock before it got dark on feathers. Once it got dark it was the usual pout and whiting show! Fish every chuck, finished ...
