Hayling Island: What's being caught?

Hi there,
Haven't been fishing all summer and it's now winter, contemplating getting the rods out for sunday. Is the cod in yet? if not what can be expected to be caught around the island?
thanks for any info.

Mackerel fishing spot please?

I'm looking for a spot to go spinning today for mackerel, preferably between Emsworth and Hayling bridge as I can't get round to the south of Hayling. It should be illegal not to go fishing when the weathers so nice.
Thanks alot!

I'm from Westbourne near Emsworth, and though I'm not that experienced I've had no luck in the harbor except mackerel from a kayak in the summer. I prefer to stick to Eastney this time of year for the plaice, as for Prinsted I have no idea but if you give it a go, I'd be interested as to how you get...

Daiwa Millionaire Proteus

I have 2 proteus multiplier reels, the problem is the level wind which I'm wondering if there's a way to removeit so it's free running. I'm doing this because i suspect the friction is slowing my casts. Can you please let me know if it's possible.
Cheers

Too cold for me at the moment, let us know how you get on. Planning a Plaice trip to Eastney in the next few weeks, when they start to bite anyway.
