This rod is superb and is very forgiving, rated 3-5 oz a 100yds cast is easily achieved with a 3oz weight. The rod is best with 4 oz and is powerful enough to cast this weight plus bait into stiff onshore winds unlike a lot of the bass rods currently on sale!
In light winds with 4oz and bait 135 yds is possible. It handles a 5oz lead reasonably well and does not fold over, this rod is slightly stiffer than a Greys BZE 3-5 oz and bites are transmitted from the tip to the butt very well when holding the rod. Unlike the Greys you can position the reel anywhere on the rod butt. The feel of the rod is light and taught and not floppy.
The biggest bass so far is 4 lb and gave good sport on this light rod. This rod is so good I have bought two!
You could pay a lot more for a slightly lighter Zipplex but why pay for casting performance which you don’t need? I find I am catching more by casting Shorter!
