Hi All,

I normally lurk in the East Coast forum, but I have a question that’s maybe better suited/posted here.

I’ve just started sea fishing (2nd week) and so far all I have been using is small squid, but the chap in my local tackle shop suggested I give ragworms ago. However… I can’t bring myself to do the “live” ragworm on a hook thing yet! But I did notice he sold packets of freeze-dried ragworm, which you simply soak in water as use in the same way as live ones. Obviously live/fresh ragworms are better, but are these “freeze-dried” alternatives a good idea, or just a waste of time?

Thanks in advance TF.

My opinion is that it is a waste of time, sorry for being so blunt. The other alternative however if you dont like putting live stuff on your hook is to use frozen lug worm. Hope this helps. keith

Hi Rabbi2,
Thanks for the prompt responce, I can now plan tomorrows bait a little better as I have time to get what you have advised in the morning. And hopefully it will thaw out before I mooch off down the river at midday.

There is a 3rd alternative, get someone else (read: misses) to load mee hooks..

Hi threefields, you really can't beat live rag, don't be scared of them just grab tight behind the head and thread em on the hook.
