Weymouth Casting Club Results – 15th JAN 2006.
After the seasonal gluttony and excess of alcohol it would be a surprise if any casters would break any records in the casting first event of the year organised by Weymouth Casting Club, however virtually every caster who turned up either achieved a personal best in some of the weight categories or came close to making this achievement. Two casters also managed to achieve the magical total of 1000m+ by using 4 different leads in a single competition, it is doubtful if there are more than a dozen casters in the world capable of this accomplishment, congratulations to Jason Willicombe and Tony Jones.
There were 23 casters at the event which took place at Maiden Castle Farm on a cloudy day with a steady 17 mph wind blowing from due south for the whole day. Abilities at these competitions range from raw beginners to World Class casters and the aim is to endeavour to beat your personal best although some casters of similar ability have mini competitions between themselves.
Should anyone wish to have casting tuition to reach those fish that bit further from the shore or wish to compete at a casting competition then phone John on 01305 771985.
The results of the Dorchester competition were as follows, all dimensions in metres:
