AND IM THINKING OF BUYING THESE TWO COMBO DEALS FOR £66 IM ONLY STARTING OUT SO IM GETTING A F/S REEL ON THE FIRST ONE AND A MULTIPLIER ON THE SECOND ONE. BUTI WAS WONDERING IF ITS WORTHWHILE ORDERING THEM COZ I DNT THINK IM GOIN TO GET CHEAPER THAN THAT!!! smug

i would try the glasgow angling center cause its fairly cheap (www.fishingmegastore.com)

The ron thompson beachcaster is ok,I got mine for between £18-£21 at GAC(Glasgow angling centre),I went for the multiplier combo,and took back the ron thompson reel with its burst ratchet the next day!!

The rods are good,but from personal experience better to go for a quality reel,I went for the ABU 6500C powerhandle at £55.00,goes great with the rod!

For spinning I went for a Penn firetip 9' spin rod,gives great casting range and only cost me £20,with this I use a Diawa crossfire-A 3550 reel at £19.99,it handles 15lb line with 3 hook hokki,and a 28g spinner on the end no problem,same when reeling it back in with 3 mackies on the line!!

i bough an okuma posseidon and and a ron thompson multiplier. i used it for rock fishing yesterday and caught a fair sized pollock on jelly worm i only had one and my knot wasnt tied tightly enough so the hook and my jelly worm came off angry

when i started out i had a budget of around £40 for a rod and reel.

i bought a fladen powerstick 12ft!

what a rod! for £15 you cant go wrong!

i also bought an okuma eclipz 65 to match at £25

that was a top rod/reel combination!

i prefer fladen rods to ron thompson as there lighter and the butts are a lot thinner.

hope this gives you something to think about.
