hi mate
i'm no expert but i thought that would be far enough
all the bass i have caught this month ,only 5 small one but they were caught about 25yrds out
bass do tend to get caught close in but you could get some heavier lures
i think the reason those lures dont weigh much is because they dont need to be used far out
i may and most probably am wrong but thats my idea of it ,so hopefully i will learn a bit more as well
cheers steve |

30m is fine and 40m is about as far as most plugs can be cast, if you really do need to cast further try cox and rawle bass bullets and fish them with a fast retrieve. Don't just cast straight out though try all angles, sometimes i cast along the shore fishing about 10-15ft out and from some groynes I cast back towards the shore! Keep a low profile and try to be as quiet as possible, sitting down on a shingle beach or groyne can help with this.
Where are you in the South East? If you are near brighton I can help you with a couple of marks that fish well for me. Plugging from Piers is not so easy if they are high up from the water, its better to fish a redgill off a paternostered trace or a heavier spinner like a dexter. Hope this helps |

Theres a lovely little campsite at cuckmere haven tucked away in the hills, with a decent food pub nearish by the river, good views and walks, lots of schoolies and mackerel in the river mouth, mullet in the river if its too windy and proper bass fishing under the seven sisters. Its called Foxhole campsite and Barn and is the only camping allowed in the country park, have fun |

For extra casting weight with small lures or baits use a bubble float full of water or jif lemon full of candle wax , good for gars and macks 70yds +. |

Hi, I do a lot of spinning myself - standard practice is to use a barrel lead followed by a bead and swivel then your hooklength to the lure. Use a lead with size to match the rating of your rod eg. mine is a 1-3oz rod and I use a 1oz lead. |

There is only 1 car park at Cuckmere and is the same one for the campsite, think it costs £8.50 for 24hrs. The Golden Galleon pub is over the other side of the river (only 1 road crosses it) from the car park and has its own carparking for customers. The river mouth is 1.25 mile walk from either of these, this is the largest undeveloped river estuary in England so its walking only. Best pub in the area is The Tiger at East Dean, but GG is also good. There is also a handy bus route thats goes to Brighton, Newhaven, Seaford, Cuckmere, Birling gap, Beachy head and Eastbourne passing supermarkets etc, allowing a bit more drinking |
