A nice little head lamp bargain....

I have been 'fishing around' for a while looking for something like this as my old lamp is a bit c**p and old fashioned. I did not want to pay the earth as some tackle shops expect one to do. I was wandering around our local ironmonger's shop (yes, they do still exist in some places; Messrs B&Q and Dyas have not yet completely taken over), when I spots a RING Cyba-lite sport LED Headlight for £14.99. It has no less than 5 bright LED's which you can switch on in various combinations and even at full power, they promise up to 25 hours from a set of 3 AAA batteries. I have found that 3 lights on is more than adequate which they say will give over 30 hours. Weight is only 75 gm so you barely know you have it on. I will of course use re-chargeable batteries (who wouldn't?); I know they aint quite so good but there has to be enough in them for an awful lot of all night sessions. So come on you tackle shops, get some in, and the rest of you good old boys ask for one for Christmas. Their email for thse interested is autosales@ring.ltd.uk :wink:

I picked up a Petzl 3 LED headlamp for £1 at Cheddar car boot last week :lol:

Blimey mate, what luck, I'll give yer 2 quid for it. Folk may like to know that I have just discovered that my own local tackle shop now sells a similar LED headlight for £11 so maybe I should have gone there first. Incidentally have folk seen the wind-up LED torches which are now starting to appear for £6/£7? I got one a few weeks ago and they seem quite excellent to me and never need batteries. Must find a way of strapping it on the bonce. :wink:

The Petzl ones ARE good though - I got mine free with a 6 month subscription to Sea Angler - it's all I need on the beach myself...

Should be easy to spot you on the beach Eccles - you'll be the one dancing weirdly while you wind up your head torch big grin

Otherwise I'll stick to eating carrots....

Have tried a variety of LED lamps, especially as a back up to my main lamp on long sessions. Try the Argos superstores for a cheap one with three different setting about £9. The problem with most of them for me is a lack of main beam recenly dicovered an Energiser 624229 at my local Wilkinsons for under a tenner. It has two bright white LEDs and an optional red one. 800 hours bulb life, up to 50m hours light, 3AAAbatteries and it tilts easily for baiting up. Weighs next to nothing but the best about it is that the lens is pre focused and gives quite a narrow beam. It claims 65 meters but I would say an effective25-30. Incidently if anyone has a Shakespeare headlamp or an MFA Halogen with single LED,
the High Gear lamp sold by Argos at around eight pounds is identical and comes with a headlight battery pack but it can easily be converted to fit the 6volt system. Cost from MFA around £20.

sorry boys im one of those tiga nutters!!
i swear by mine its great for everything pumping,fishing you name it but it did cost a bit! personally i cant get on with those led jobs but hey thats my opinion. i did own an mfa dual halogen and led but the led got little or no use at all, ilike to be able to see what im doing properly.
