Brightons best chippie does a cod free wednesday, the best 2 alternatives so far have been pollack and whiting, I reckon pollack even better than cod deep fried with nice crispy batter...I'm making myself hungry writing this and I think I know what I'll be eating .......mmmm. |

| Sorry, can't agree, would rather have a fresh bass as per yesterday (accompanied with fresh cut sea kale) than a near tasteless pollack. |

| Nice one yungteddy - The cooking up in Orkney sounds good. Is it a traditional island dish? |

Fresh Cod or fresh Pollack, I couldn't taste the difference as long as they were caught and cooked on the same day. I give them both the same treatment, fillets wrapped in foil with butter and a little bit of olive oil.
I reckon if you gave people Pollack and told them it was Cod most wouln't be able to tell |
