is limpet any good as bait ? theres loads on the rocks also mussels, whelks and a few crabs any ideas i use the crab and mussels but dnt know about limpet or whelks. any help ? cheers  |

| Don't bother with whelks and limpets mate unless they are slipper limpets like we get down south. You could try razor clams if you get any on your beaches - they are usually got near the low water mark at low water spring tides. |

| Well thats a coincidence, the same question just cropped up in this edition of sea angler, the expert says he used whelks with lugworms, when fishing for Cod, but also says its a standby bait and not a first choice. I tend to experiment, everything seems to differ with species area etc, so i always try to do something different with a second rod, just to see what works. 2 weeks ago i used garden worms and caught 3 at bridlington. |

I've often used garden worms in the Humber for flatties, but never tried them at bridlington. I'll have to give them a try there sometime |

| Funny you should say that trooper, another guy was using worms further up and was pulling flatties for fun. |

| There ok for flatties but you have to change bait pretty often as the salt water kills them quick and blanches the nearly white. |
