By this i mean for the actual angling side rather than the feild casting area.

Up here in durham the local sea angling tackle shop is Rigs' in Seaham and they stock penn gear mainly so thats what i use.

My fave rod i have used is a Penn Copperhead, light as a feather and copes with the seas and the reel i use with it is a 535 mag, turn all brakes off and away we go.

For fishing over the rough its the good old RT Axcellerator and 535 GS, I Prefer the Gs rather than the mag for this work because i feel the mag has more things that can go wrong and over rough ground you dont want that.

but have you made your money back from angling? with the exception of bait and terminal tackle by winning matches i have gradually paid off what i spent on rods and reels, coarse matches though im a codbasher on the beach and with the whities its getting hard to stand a chance

no never won a fishing match, though I did come second in an egg spoon race at the age of seven, against some pretty stiff opposition.!

century tip tornado match and an elite for casting 6oz + leads or medium rough ground

tippy lite for 4- 5 oz leads and an elite.

looking to buy a century bass rod of ebay for light fishing and prob a shimano fixed spool.

and a fresh water quiver tip and browning fixed spool reel for very light fishing (gars, mackrel, pollock, etc)

i always go as light as i can, you get more fun from the same fish.
