Hi to you all,
I fished at Dungeness Point today (Sat 22nd Oct) with my eldest son who caught his first fish today.
We left North West Kent this morning hoping to pick up some bait in RYE, unfortunately we could only find one tackle/bait shop and they had no lug.
So we bought frozen Mackeral, Sand Eels and Squid there and drove on down to Dungeness, keeping our eyes peeled going around LYDD as I was informed that some of the bait diggers put out boards if they have lug for sale.
We did not see any signs and soon arrived at Dungeness by the black 'n' white light house we bought from Dungeness some poor quality lug at £7.00 for two score... but really we had no choice at this time but to purchase what was on offer.
So next time we make the trip.... which should be soon as the kids are on holidays this week coming, I would like to know where in the Dungeness/Rye area we can purchase good bait.
We drive through Rye/Camber Sands/Lydd/Dungeness, Local to where we live the tackle shops cater for course fishing not sea angling therefore don't stock lug or rag.
Many thanks for your time, look forward to all replies. |

Hi Euge,
Thanks for the tip... Do You Fish at Dungeness??
Your profile says you are in the South East, is that Kent and if so North, South, West or East??
I am in NWK so Eastbourne to Sandwich Bay is where I intend to fish,as I am venturing back into fishing after many many years abscence.

Hello there HoOkEd
Yea its kent mate our wonderful garden of england.
I fish dungy a good bit but prefer a little futher along at denge marsh as my biggest bass from there of 8lb, 2oz was not the biggest fish in the world but was definitely the biggest fish of the day. I say this as it was a week day that i cought it and the beech was empty. So i gese with only bait on the beach he had no choice but to snap he"s big fat self at the only bait there. To sea a beech as wide and empty as the denge was that day will stay in my memory forever.
You say youve been absent from fishing for a while, im a little absent myself at the moment due to being at home off work with a broken leg.
Still thats life but the beach will be there when i recover and so will the fishh. |

Nice to meet you Mal-Nomates.
fishing dont sound too bad from where you are there.
I take it these places like Goldscliff and redwick are local to you or do
have to travel far to get to them.
What other names do you have for other local hotspots, incase i travel that way.
Its nice to know because as you know alot of our hidden treasure"s of places
to fish are marsked with nick names, and its when you come to fish them
you can never find them. :? |

Cardiff foreshore is a prime venue for winter codling, though it's best to start fishing there from November onwards.Try St.Maryswell Bay at low water for good sport in November and December and Nells Point in Barry around that time. This time of year see's good sport in the venues at Redwick and Goldcliffe and marks at Sudbrook will improve as we close in on winter. If you need any directions, bait advice or any other help then just let me know. |
