Hi all

Is anyone about to give me some advice.
I to use to fish when I was younger but stop when I got married. Back then I couldn't drive so I had to use pedal power, so only fished Hamble and Weston. If I was lucky my uncle would take me to Milford.

A few months ago my 11 year old son said he wanted to learn how to sea fish. Well I didn't need asking twice.

Of of I went with bank card in hand, (and missess at work) and kitted us both out, (well he couldn't fish on is own ! ).

We have had a few small whitting, pout etc, but not much else.
We have stuck to night tides so the fish are closer. And have fish Gilkicker and Stokes bay area.

Can you guys recomend anywhere he might catch. And also I can't find any mention of how Milford or Hurst is fishing. Has anybody fished it of late/

Thank you

It's great when the littuns get involved - the faces they pull when they catch something is a sight to behold

I don't know the area, so cannot help you, someone will be along, most probably after office hours

Welcome big grin

Not sure exactly where you are on South coast, but I'm assuming you're on the Solent. Have you tried Netley Abbey? I remember seeing people beachcasting there. The bottom loked a mixture of rocks and sand. Hope that helps.

Otherwise, head west further still to Poole Harbour, Hengistbury and Chesil.

I come from Romsey, but don.t mind traveling.

I fished Henisbury head one a long time a go, didn't catch anything but found it a lovely place to fish. Do to know if they are catching there at the mo.

I have never fished by Netley Abbey, athough I used to fish Weston a lot for flatties.

The guy in the tackle shop said Weston is no good due to the trawlers.

I have a feeling that Hengistbury tends to be better in Summer for sole, but hopefully someone will correct me if I'm wrong. I spoke to my tackle shop on Tues. and he said the flounders are in in Poole Harbour. Baiter and Rockley are good places to try. Rag tends to be the best bait.

Have you done Magazine Lane, Southampton yet? I am not familiar with the area but going on reports, I have read there often seems to be a bit of fish activity there and could be good for a youngster.
