Have only fished layde bay 3 times last winter over low water last trip was best two coddling biggest was just over 5lb caught with big squid and lug baits. the layde bay flats are a few hundred yards along the muddy track look for all the litter (squid boxes ,newspaper ,rags ,old line all the usual lazy angler litter.we fish the second track down only fishable over low as you fish from the sand and then the 1st platforms after that to dangerous to hang around . |

fished layde bay on sunday, blanked, on talking with other anglers no one i spoke to caught i used squid lug and rag in cocktails on pulley pennel rigs and two hook bomber rigs lots of crab about stripping baits, taking peelers as well next time might make a difference. Some nice cod caught of the peir according to the local tackle shop.I noted just how much litter, lines and half boxes of squid were left , not only on the rocks but also up on the road opposite the residential area, not a great first impression. |

To get the best ot of BC cod fishing i have been reliably informed to start the season with rag and squid and once the cold weather bites forget the rag and use lug instead.
One tackle shop i was talking to told me to book lug atleast one week in advance or otherwise you aint going to get none.
cheers
